• Image Stabilization is a huge benefit for this hand held camera
• External Mic Jack (huge bonus if high quality sound is important in your videos)
• Heaps of storage – expandable out to 32 gig!
• Small enough to fit into one hand
• Works well in low light
• Editing software is included
• The Kodak Zi8 also operates as a 5.3megapixel “still” camera which means you only need to carry one small hand-held camera
• The USB part that allows upload to a laptop or PC is flexible. This really suits me as I use a laptop and often work away from my desk
• The Kodak Zi8 includes a wall charger. This is great when you are travelling and can’t charge off your laptop or computer
• The Kodak Zi8 has 4 X Zoom (whereas most other Flip Cams only has 2 X Zoom)
• Sleek and slim case (some of its competitors are quite chunky and brick-like)
• Vibrant 2.5-inch viewfinder; Watch footage on HDTV with included cables
• Comes with its own software to share and edit videos.

Cons Kodak Zi8

• You have to remember to buy a memory card as it doesn’t come bundled but remember you can expand up to 32 gig and you can swap cards out to enable continuous shooting so what appeared to be a possible con actually ended up being a pro – for me.
• Sony Vaio PC users may have an extra step when using the video software with this camera
• The Kodak Zi8 doesn’t have a flat bottom – which means you can hand-hold as you video, or use a small tripod (but you can’t sit it on a table to film).

Comments on the Kodak Zi8 from Forums

The Kodak Zi8 hasn’t received perfect reviews. Some users thought the image stabilization used battery power very quickly and most agreed that the results were better with a tripod (but I think that applies to all hand held cameras).
